Thoughts on commissioned work
From the herbal pharmacy’s name, Kirindo, the animal is of course a giraffe.
The greens come from the image of medicinal herbs.
And the small flowers areisland chrysanthemum (shimakangiku)a flower used in herbal medicine.
▶︎ The flower’s meaning: “I believe in you.”
the owner’s feeling from parent to child
and for a larger love: what can we adults do for the next generation?
It felt right for that larger love, so I brought it in.
A message from the client
Why did I want NAO’s painting in the pharmacy?
The materials, the manner, the way the colors sit together.
Something catches the eye, and you find yourself looking。
▲ “Lion in My Own Color 2019,” S100
What comes through is infinity artist NAO’s signature work“Lion in My Own Color”presence,
a strong beauty, and in the gentle gaze a quiet sorrow.
▲ Mural “Ganesha of Prayer”
the great power and energy of NAO’s elephant mural.
and a sense of “you’re going to be all right,” spoken from a little distance.
▲ Mural “The Cosmic Jungle Where Hanuman Langurs Live”
In a forest of Nepalese monkeys, a gentle warmth of freedom and connection.
▲ The theme is a jungle at night.
▲ This white monkey is the Hanuman langur, found in India and Nepal.
私, I thought a giraffe, too, would surely become a painting full of kindness.
And maybe it’s only me who feels this, but
a passing loneliness, sadness, a feeling that brings tears,a gentle painting that seems to understand living,
that kind of painting, I thoughtso I commissioned a painting of a giraffe.

When I commissioned the work, NAO came to the shop (the pharmacy) to listen,
I was able to share what I felt.
それがTaking form as art and hanging in the shop,
I feel that feeling spreading through the whole space.
Guests say “How lovely” every time they come, moved,
and even when they weren’t unwell, they wanted to see the painting,
Some people even came all the way to the pharmacy.
an artist who connects feeling through art,
I truly feel glad I commissioned infinity artist NAO.

“Infinity” NAO takes her name from her birth month, August — the number 8 and the infinity mark. A Leo, she uses the lion as her emblem. In Hawaiian, leo means “voice” or “message.” She paints to deliver a message from the soul.
