On the day you have to finish inside the time, so….

Finished — after the live painting
Truth is, live painting as a form was a first for me.
I’ve been spoken to while painting murals outdoors, and
people have peeked at iPad sketches in a café
and said, “That’s amazing…” — but this was different.
I’d had a live-paint request before this one, but
it was canceled because of COVID.
In my own picture of it, live painting is
more performer than painterI think.
In the makingShowing the work as you make it asks for another kind of skill, so
It asks for another kind of skill.
Day to day I pour my world and my message onto the canvas in quiet, so
So this was a rare and precious chance for me, NAO.
It was a joy.

A little late, but let me talk about the theme of the live painting.
This area, once empty land, is Makuhari Bay Park.
The venue was in Kaihin-Makuhari —MAKUHARI NEIGHBORHOOD DOCK.

Development kept coming — more towers, more community.
I first heard, in a vague way, that commercial buildings were going up when I used coworking space TENT Makuhari (there was even less here then).
Then Mitsui Fudosan Residential offered the live-paint opportunity.
We first sat down together in late May.
Listening on site, feeling the shops and the mood,
“Then this is a toast in advance — for this neighborhood’s future!”と、the idea dropped in at once.
“A toast to this neighborhood’s future!”
MAKUHARI NEIGHBORHOOD DOCK is home to many restaurants.
Makuhari Brewery makes craft beer, and
neighbors gather — it really does feel like one long toast.
“A toast to this neighborhood’s future!”meaning, and
“A toast for each person who lives here!”— that’s the meaning.
I painted both on Tanabata, July 7, 2024 —
I painted a live painting for sending a wish up.
Warm exchange, traveling through art
Tanabata was the perfect day.
To everyone involved, to fans who came,
